Funny

From MCMORAN.ORG comes "Star Wars Toys that never made it"

I don't know why they never made it, I personally would have bought a few of the dead Ewoks, and dead Jar-jar would have been a huge hit with me.

Patrik Storm is a Jerk - Part 2

You may recall that I went on a bit of a rant over Patrik Storm's disappointing behaviour after losing a chess game due to inactivity.

(if you haven't, please read the post to better understand where I'm coming from on this one)

Today I was pleased to see that someone googling Patrik Storm found my posting "Patrik Storm from Umea Sweden is a jerk"

In fact, there have been a couple visitors from Sweden... maybe they included Patrik, or friends of his, or even a potential employers... how intriguing!

Still waiting for that apology Patrik, but not holding my breath.

Lost - Season 4 Teaser (spoiler alert?)

The trailer for the 4th season of Lost hit the 'digg' today. As frustrated as network television makes me, I'm eagerly anticipating this new season anyway.

Moo? Any leads on Cow (bull?) symbolism in Lost?

The formula for the show getting irritatingly predictable, almost as much as "House," but still I can't wait to tune in and get some answers while finding out how close my own suspicions came to the truth of the situation.

What is this. a group of coconuts? Were they meant to look like a pile of skulls?

I'll stay satisfied as long as they don't spend too much time on one small group of characters, like the begining of last season... that almost drove me away from the show.

Now that's a skull... no question there.

The teaser offers the expected bunch of odd images that give next to nothing away, while building the suspense. No threat of a spoiler here, at least not as far as I can tell.

What the..?

Ooop... well, sort of a spoiler... someone get's stabbed, or so it appears. Is that Kate?

Paying for stuff with coins

So, at 6:30am this morning I find myself reading bill C-41 from 1997-98* when I came across the ammendments to Subsections 8(2) and (3) of the original act, which specifically state how large a payment can be made using coins:

(2) A payment in coins referred to in subsection (1) is a legal tender for no more than the following amounts for the following denominations of coins:

(a) forty dollars if the denomination is two dollars or greater but does not exceed ten dollars;

(b) twenty-five dollars if the denomination is one dollar;

(c) ten dollars if the denomination is ten cents or greater but less than one dollar;

(d) five dollars if the denomination is five cents; and

(e) twenty-five cents if the denomination is one cent.

(2.1) In the case of coins of a denomination greater than ten dollars, a payment referred to in subsection (1) may consist of not more than one coin, and the payment is a legal tender for no more than the value of a single coin of that denomination.

(3) For the purposes of subsections (2) and (2.1), where more than one amount is payable by one person to another on the same day under one or more obligations, the total of those amounts is deemed to be one amount due and payable on that day.

Nobody has to accept a payment in coins that exceeds the above amounts. So there.

* Why? Because the internet is a strange and wonderful place, and that's where this mornings surfing took me.

Take Five

EVERYONE WHO HAS A CELL PHONE SHOULD READ!

Received this via email... some useful stuff; maybe not Earth-shattering, but useful.

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO.

There are a few things that can be done in times ofgrave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually bea life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Checkout the things that you can do with it:

FIRST Subject: Emergency The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.If you find yourself out of the coverage area of yourmobile; network and there is an emergency, dial 112and the mobile will search any existing network toestablish the emergency number for you, and interestinglythis number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.Try it out.

SECOND Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may comein handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: Ifyou lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are athome, call someone at home on their cell phone from yourcell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from yourcar door and have the person at your home press the unlockbutton, holding it near the mobile phone on their end.Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to driveyour keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away,and if you can reachsomeone who has the other "remote"for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and itunlocked our car over a cell phone!"

THIRD Subject: Hidden Battery Power Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, pressthe keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserveand the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery.This reserve will get charged when you charge your cellnext time.

FOURTH: How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone? To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in thefollowing digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This numberis unique to your handset. Write it down and keep itsomewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you canphone your service provider and give them this code.They will then be able to block your handset so evenif the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phoneback, but at least you know that whoever stole itcan't use/sell it either. If everybody does this,there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.And Finally....

FIFTH: Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 ormore for 411 information calls when they don't have to.Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in ourvehicle, which makes this situation even more of aproblem. When you need to use the 411 information option,simply dial: (800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 withoutincurring any charge at all. Program this into your cellphone now.
